Sonic Crackers - Sega Genesis/Mega Drive
Sonic Crackers, referred to in the ROM header as Sonic Studium, is an early Mega Drive prototype of what would become Chaotix on the 32X, notably putting players in control of Sonic the Hedgehog and Miles "Tails" Prower - characters absent from the final game. Leaked onto the internet one year after its production and only containing four brief, empty levels, Crackers served as an early proof of concept for the final game's trademark momentum-based physics.
The name Sonic Crackers is a misromanization of Sonic Clackers, referring to the playable characters being connected like the children's toy of the same name. Further, the name Sonic Studium is a more obvious misromanization of Sonic Stadium.
